It is being speculated that the first iPhone of 2020 will be the successor of the iPhone SE which was released in 2016. The speculated name of the iPhone is not yet confirmed.
So based on rumors, we are going to call it iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9. It is most likely to be named iPhone 9 because it is the only number missing in the iPhone Series so far.
This is a budget iPhone after four years and Apple would want to cover the mid-range smartphone market with this phone.
We are going to talk about this phone from Apple because it is rumored to launch this month. Now obviously with everything going on with the coronavirus pandemic, everything can change.
Most of the tech events got canceled due to the outbreak and Apple’s WWDC event will include no press it would be just streamed online. So we aren’t sure whether Apple would take a chance to launch one of its cheap iPhones amid the outbreak.

Esteemed industry analyst, Ming-Chi-Kuo stated in his reports that iPhone 9 would have the body similar to iPhone 8 and carry a similar design.
The device will have a 4.7-inch LCD with a Touch ID sensor on the Home button so we won’t be seeing Face ID.
The reason behind launching a successor to iPhone SE is because several customers are eagerly waiting for a smaller iPhone for years.
Apple is also planning to offer more color options with this device. We have seen some new colors in the iPhone 11 series and the same may go for iPhone 9.
It will have a single 12MP camera at the back (similar to iPhone 11). On the front, we may get 7MP for selfie and FaceTime.

The concept of this iPhone is to offer a smartphone at a budget-friendly price. So it is obvious that Apple will try to offer the specs according to the price of the device.

As we said earlier that Apple is making re-entry to the mid-range smartphone market so the price of this device would be much lesser than the other high-end devices. It is expected that iPhone SE 2 would cost $399 for the basic 64GB variant.
iPhone 9 Release Date
March 31, 2020, was the expected launch date of the next iPhone but amid the coronavirus, things can change. Apple may not take risk of launching the device when people are facing the deadly virus and they have to stay at home for their safety. So we may expect iPhone 9 to be launched in June at WWDC.
